Just an example of a rather traditional style, but with some enhancement.
The bass goes walking, like in swing and bop, but hints here and there at modal playing.
The difference lies in the drums, I think. Whereas traditional jazz accompaniment styles (Band in a Box, Yamaha, Roland) often limit drum lines to the ring-a-ting-ting pattern on the ride cymbal, here the drums are more "happening".
If you hear today's drummers play swing, from Dave Weckl to Eric Harland, they lay down other accents than in the old charleston rhythm, and they use up more space to drive the music more or to make the rhythm less rigid and more playful.
I hope you can appreciate this example. All the time, being aware that my improvisation doesn't really do justice to the richness of the style (search for the Standard Pack 1 in the store), I think you will like this one.
