Mission to be Where I Am, Jan Garbarek
Updated: Aug 20, 2021

Released in 1986, already, a nice album with great guitar playing from David Torn, the remarkable drum work of Michael DiPasqua and the haunting bass of Eberhard Weber.
Jan Garbarek had already played with George Russell and Keith Jarrett! He moved further away from jazz and incorporated Folk music and world music in his compositions.
Anyways...
The song is centrered around Emajor, but moves to Dmajor in the 7th bar (earlier already, but then it quickly returns to Emajor) and turns back to the starting chord.
It's a simple composition, with lots of "pop" chords, but deceptively so. It takes some trying to stick to the harmony and it takes great players, like David Torn and Jan Garbarek to make it such a wonderful song.
My own playing is far from the level of the recording, but then again, the melody is so beautiful that I just wanted to play it.
Here you can find the file (mgu file) for the tune. Remember, the file wants to play a Jazzstylezz style. If you don't have styles from Jazzstylezz, you can use another style that you like.
The style is in the Ballad Pack 1
